When we fast most people think about what we can and cannot eat. This is a important aspect of fasting but not the only thing that we should consider. Along with fasting we should be praying. We also should be reading scripture and spending time worshiping and praising God while we are consecrating. Fasting is an opportunity to be introspective and sincerely ask ourselves, "is my life really pleasing to God"?
It is also very possible to have places in our life that we do not give much attention to. And it can very well can be places in our life that are not pleasing to God. These things can hinder us and until dealt with and or corrected, can cause certain blessings to be blocked in our lives. This is what the Lord says through the prophet Isaiah 58:6-7
Isaiah 58:6-7 (NLT)
6 “No, this is the kind of fasting I want:Free those who are wrongly imprisoned;    lighten the burden of those who work for you.Let the oppressed go free,    and remove the chains that bind people.7 Share your food with the hungry,    and give shelter to the homeless.Give clothes to those who need them,    and do not hide from relatives who need your help.
This scripture clearly shows that God is looking at and concerned about how we treat people. If we help those in need or not. If we are oppressing anyone that we have authority over. If we are feeding the hungry and clothing the naked. He is even looking at we treat our family members and relatives. We should consider these types of things and make any adjustments that need to be made. Ask God to show you any place in your life that needs to be changed and ask for Grace to change it.
