Pray The Word

Writer: Pastor HollinsPastor Hollins

Jesus was passionate about the Word of God. He used it when He prayed. He knew the power of the Word of God in intercession. When He was tempted by the devil in the wilderness, He quoted the Word of God (Matthew 4:8-11). The devil left because of the power of the Word of God. In Ephesians 6:17 the Word of God is called the Sword of The Spirit. Jesus knew that speaking the Word of God would bring spiritual breakthrough in the most difficult times of spiritual attack.

Praying the Word of God also allows us to pray in confidence and faith. The Word of God reveals the character and will of God. We can see God's love and desire for us through his Word. How can we pray the Word? Simply take a verse or passage of scripture that reveals a Promise, a Principle or a Prophesy from the Word of God.

Take that scripture and use it as the foundation for your prayer. For example, James 1:5 says this.

James 1:5

“If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.”

You can now take this scripture and pray a prayer like this:

Heavenly Father I thank you that you love me and you want the best for me. There are areas in which I don't know what to do or how to handle it. But I thank you that you know exactly what I should do and you know all of the answers. So by faith, according to James 1:5. I ask you for wisdom for ................ Reveal to me what I should do and how to handle this situation. You are the one that gives wisdom and by faith I receive a liberal portion of wisdom concerning this. And I thank you for it now in Jesus name. Amen!

This is one way to pray the Word.
